 Who am I?

Hey there! My name is Terrel Marshall and I'm in my third year of engineering physics and biomedical engineering. I'm running to be your next Vice President of Finance and Administration!

I have a proven track record when it comes to working in the Mac Eng community; if I'm chosen for this role, it will be my fourth elected position on MES Council. I spent the last three years serving my fellow students as First Year iBioMed Rep, AVP Academic Resources, and (this year) VP Communications. In other words, I know how the MES works, I know the students and the Faculty, and I know what needs to change.

I'm building my campaign on three pillars: the first is Good Governance. The VPFA is the backbone of the MES, and I plan on ensuring that, online or in person, we have the resources available to deliver the same student experience that MacEng is known for. The second is Streamlining Expenses - I want to move away from our outdated expense reporting system and work with out bookkeepers to eliminate redundancies, ensuring that we handle our students' money quickly and efficiently. Finally, I want to ensure that the MES is ready for the transition back to in-person operations, whenever that should take place. That's why my third pillar is Post-COVID Finances.

Please read on to learn more about my background and my platform. I look forward to serving the McMaster Engineering community for another year, should I be given the honour!

Who Am I?

 My Record

 of service

I've been deeply involved in the McMaster Engineering Community since my very first year at Mac. I got my start as the iBioMed First Year Representative on MES Council back in 2018. My introduction to the MES, I used my position to organize social events for first-years, and bring the concerns of Level I iBios to the attention of Council. I also helped build up the fledgling iBioMed Society with the help of the MES's resources.

In Winter 2019, I was elected AVP Academic Resources, my next challenge as a servant of our community. In that role, I revamped the MES Textbook Library by shifting to an online logging system that allowed us to more easily reach the students who use our service. I also coordinated Level I midterm Help Sessions throughout the year, appointing qualified students as Course Leads and ensuring that that our first years received as much valuable preparatory support as we could offer them for their tests.

This year, I took on my biggest role yet after being elected VP Communications. Leading a team of 16 creative students, I organized all aspects of the MES's public outreach, a task that was all the more important given the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic. Between keeping the website and social media channels up and running, to earning advertising revenue through the Frequency, I made sure our students were kept aware of how they could get involved, even on a computer screen miles miles from campus!
